Title Research PHARMACEUTICAL CARE IN PATIENTS WITH DIABETES MELLITUS

The objective of this research was to implement and evaluate pharmaceutical care models in patients with diabetes mellitus , and identification , resolution or prevention of drug related problems (DRPs). The study was conducted during 1 July 2002 to 30 October 2002 , at pharmacy department , Health Science Center , Burapha University.
From 40 targeted patients receive pharmaceutical care , 65.0% were female and 35.0% were male. Eighty percents of the cases were 55 years and older , 60.0% of diabetes patients is associated with other disease. Results showed that after follow up , the number of patients in group 1 , 2 (FBS ≤ 180 mg%) were increased and group 3 (FBS > 180 mg%) were decreased. The DRPs found at the first visit was 48 problems (76.2%) and reduced to 12 problems (19.0%) , 3 problems (4.8%) at the first and second follow up. The most commonly found DRPs were taking too little dose (49.2%) , taking medication at the wrong time (23.8%) and failure to receive medication (15.9%).
In conclusion, the setted model of pharmaceutical care for diabetes patient may be helpful in positive patient‘s outcomes and reducing DRPs. This model could be used in the other disease patients.
Title Research FACTORS RELATING PREMARITAL SEX PREVENTION PRACTICES AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENT.

The purpose of this study was to examine factors related to premarital sex prevention practices of the first year Burapha students. The 400 samples answered 3 sets of questionnaires ; 1)demographic data, 2) predisposing factors ; sex, parents’ living together, knowledge of premarital sex preventions, attitude to premarital sex 3) enabling factors; receiving information, receiving counseling and re-enforcement factors; receiving supporting from parents, friends and health care providers. Data were analyzed using mean. Standard deviation, correlation, independent t-test and stepwise regression analysis.
The result of this study revealed that attitude to premarital sex, receiving supporting from parents, friends, health care providers and knowledge of premarital sex prevention showed positive relationship with premarital sex prevention practices at a 0.01 statistical level of significance. The stepwise multiple regression showed that attitude to premarital sex, receiving supporting and knowledge of premarital sex prevention have the effect on premarital sex prevention practices as shown in the following equation;
Y (premarital sex prevention practice ) = 0.357 + 0.416( attitude to premarital sex) 0.365 (receiving supporting) + 0.425 ( knowledge of premarital sex prevention)
As this results of this study, it is recommended that educational institutions should promote reproductive health education, campaign to alter attitude to premarital sex prevention, build up sex personal value. Also health care providers should adjust attitude to provide caring adolescents in counseling process.

The purpose of this retrospective research was to investigate the completeness of medical record at Health Science Center , Burapha University. The sample was comprised of five hundred and thirteen outpatient medical records and one hundred and forty four inpatient medical records , during 1-30 April 2002 which were collected by random sampling from population outpatient medical records and population inpatient medical records.
The tool used were four types-checklists , outpatient medical record checklist , general inpatient medical record checklist , Obstetrics inpatient medical record checklist and New born inpatient medical record checklist.
It was found that the completeness of outpatient medical record was in improvement level , the general and Obstetrics inpatient medical record was in adequate level , the new born inpatient medical record was in excellent level. Recording in responsibility of registers such as personal data and servicing date were complete in excellent level. The recording arrival of patient was good. In the part of nurse’s recording about chief complaint was in good level but recording history of illness , vital signs and symptoms and sign of nurse were in improvement level , the important of personal data for all pages and vital sign record were excellent level , nurse’ note and history record were good level , In the part of doctor’s recording in outpatient the completeness of medical records was adequate level and improvement level as a whole especially for suggestion the least to record , for inpatient medical record doctor order was in good level but progress note , first history of illness and physical examination were in improvement level.
